Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Bissell 1867-7 Steam Mop Hard-Floor Cleaner, Green Tea

Customer Review: I love this mop.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a hairy dog and a 954 square foot house with wood and marmoleum floors.

This mop is great because:
1. It has cut the time it takes me to clean the floors in half- no walking back and forth to the sink with the mop and it dries way faster than mop water.
2. It's small so it fits in my water heater closet that's already jam-packed.
3. Easy to use! Push a button, steam comes out.
4. No residue ever. Lots of other cleaning products I've used promise they won't leave a residue, but EVERY one of them left residue on my wood floor. Steam doesn't leave anything.

Things to know:
1. I have to Swiffer the floors before mopping because one week of shedded dog hair would fill a 5 gallon bucket. I had to do this anyway, so no big deal.
2. The cord is super short. If my house were bigger, it might be annoying, but for me, it's not a problem.
3. Steam doesn't dry instantly. It takes a couple minutes to dry depending on how much you hold down the steam dispenser. Still, much better than mopping.

Overall, a big fat A+. I highly recommend.

Customer Review: Beats Mopping Any Day!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

My daughter has asthma so I do not have carpet in any room in my house. Needless to say I have a lot of rooms to mop. The backbreaking job of mopping is NOT my favorite thing to do.

After seeing a commercial for another brand of steam floor cleaner I decided to check into it. I did my research and decided on the Bissel 1867. It got great reviews and was reasonably priced. I received it "lickity-split" from AMAZON.COM (my favorite place to shop for just about anything).

Assembly couldn't be easier. All you do is slip one piece on one end and one piece on the other end, secure the pieces with two screws and you're done.

To use it you put water (preferrably "distilled") in the water tank, slide the tank into its place on the machine, plug it in and you're set to go. To clean the floor you hold the trigger on the handle down as you pull the cloth covered steam head across the floor. It really produces a cloud of steam in SECONDS. But the best part is yet to come.

Unbelievable may seem a little too strong of a word to use but it is the only one that accurately describes the job this machine does. You can literally see the streak of clean floor beside the dirty part of the floor just like they claim. To get something a little tough off the floor you just hold the head over the spot for a few extra seconds and up it comes. The dirty stains on the floor are absorbed into a removable cloth cover that is on the head. It comes with two covers but you'll want to buy extras because they get saturated after a while with the water and stains. Be warned that the water tank is a little small and needs refilling maybe a little more often than I would like and you have use slightly slower strokes so the steam has time to do its job. The cord length was more than adequate. My rooms are small so I was able to reach any area with no problem. You'll still have to do something additional to get the floor edges but no machine will do them.

I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the Bissel Steam Floor cleaner.

Customer Review: Perfect 10!
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading innumerable reviews & checking out every steam mop on the planet, I finally bought this through HSN - free shipping & 4 cloths. I was sick of the Swiffer WetJet leaving my floors tacky & shoes feeling as if they were sticking to the floor after I used the WetJet. I'm loving this Bissell! My tile floors are cleaner than ever & drying time is in minutes. (NOTE: If you have linoleum, do not allow ANY steam cleaner to rest in one spot as it can take the glue up.) I am short so I have no problem with length of handle, as others have commented in here. The Bissell just couldn't be easier!

WARNING: I really doubt if this steamer can be used on wood floors! The instructions do say to try it on a small patch of the floor before using but experience on tile has shown me just how hot this steam gets. I wouldn't use it on marble or granite either, as these are (or should be) sealed and I can visualize the seal being totally taken off by this steamer and that invalidates any warranty you might have.

Customer Review: Extremely pleased
Summary: 5 Stars

I received the steam mop on Wednesday and tried it for the first time today. I have to say I am extremely pleased with it and only wished I had discovered it sooner. It really makes mopping much easier than using a regular mop and bucket. Not having to use chemical cleaning solution is another big plus. Thanks Bissell for making this great product. It's a joy to use.

I highly recommend this product to anyone looking to clean tile or hard wood floors.

Customer Review: surprised
Summary: 4 Stars

I just tried the steam mop for the first time and was pleasantly surprised...it did a great job on my textured wood floor. It was very easy to set up and very easy to use, although it was a little bit harder to push across the texture of my floor. I have also read other reviews where people were unhappy because it removed or damaged the finish on their floors...I can see where that might be a problem on some of the more delicate surfaces; the steam removed the shine enhancer that I had previously treated the floor with. That's great when you think of all the other stuff it lifted, but not so great if I have to re-treat the floor everytime I use the steam mop. Overall, though,I was pretty happy with it...my floor really takes a beating with two big dogs, two cats, two lumberjacks and one diesel mechanic tromping over it every day.
